Comparison of the Sony alpha models

The difference between the entry or consumer models of the Sony DSLR alpha series is quite easy to explain. First there’s the basic model called the a200. Now you add life view and you get the a300. Put 4 megapixel more on top and there you are: the a350. Well, I neither need life view nor a 14 megapixel picture. However I still had to compare the a200 with the older model a100 and there are two features that definitely speak for the latter: MLU and DOF preview. Both are not that important for me and so I’m looking forward to the arrival of my new camera – the a200. Of course I would have loved to invest in the a700, but my budget just didn’t allow for that.

Sony mischt den DSLR-Markt auf

Nach ungefähr einem Jahr Abstinenz kehre ich zur digitalen Spiegelreflexfotografie zurück. Und wie könnte es anders sein, sind es die Sony-Kameras, welche mir am Besten gefallen. Ich hatte nicht damit gerechnet, dass den (Konica-)Minoltakameras der Verkauf an Sony bekommt. Doch die alpha-Reihe, wie sie genannt wird, hat mich eines besseren belehrt. Die Sony DSLR-a100 war schon ein solides Upgrade zur Konica-Minolta Dynax 5D. Die aktuelle Reihe von a200, a300 (erscheint erst noch), a350 und a700 bilden meiner Ansicht nach das Beste, was es im Con- und Prosumerbereich an DSLRs gerade so gibt. Sony gehört zu den wenigen, die alle Funktionen in der Kamera belassen haben und nicht z.B. den Verwacklungskompensator (Canon) oder gar die Autofokussierung (Nikon) in die Objektive verbannen. Dementsprechend kann an den Sony-Kameras jedes alte Minolta-Objektiv (bei den Drittanbietern sieht das anders aus) ohne Probleme verwendet werden.
Die Sony DSLR-a900, welche auch noch dieses Jahr kommen soll, wird die Produktpalette auch im Profi-Bereich abrunden und den Wettbewerbern Marktanteile abjagen.
