There are many discussions about duplicate content issues and quite a bunch of solutions for WordPress blogs. However I took it as an opportunity to write my first WordPress plugin: Search Engine Management.
The plugins gives you the ability to tell the search engines which sites you want to have indexes and which not. This is done by adding a robot meta tag into the blog’s header saying “index, follow” ar alternatively “noindex, follow“.
The idea for this solution comes from SeoFreak’s WordPress Duplicate Content Patch or rather a guy at Webmasterworld.
Michael Woehrer’s plugins helped me with the styling of the code, so don’t be surpised by the similarities. The whole thing is under GPL 2 and may thereby be redistributed and/or modified.
Update: I created a special page for the plugin, so you can download it now at http://hiegl.net/search-engine-management/
